Hi folx!
I have some self made wmv files - don't blame me it was a quick dirty but simple encode and now I wanted to extract the audio part without recoding.
WITH recoding it's quite simple, just grab it with audacity, save as avi and encode it again to wma. Because the Divx 3 also enables cbr wma (with poor quality) there would at least one way to encode it with 48 or 64 kbit,
but I assume there's a more simple way for it. my small ugly usb stick can play any kind of wma, but fails with lot of MP3 formats not having 44 khz and also on some VBR encoded files. If I rename the wmv to wma the stick plays the audio as well, but I don't need that video part to save some place

any suggestions?

Hi!I have some self made wmv files - don't blame me it was a quick dirty but simple encode and now I wanted to extract the audio part without recoding. If they're "self-made", that would imply that you have both the original video source and the original audio source. So, why would you have to extract the audiostream from the "self-made" file?

if you need it to convert to another source for storage purposes, i am in the same boat. im saving all the audio from my hd dvd discs and im converting the video and stuff so i can back mine up on dvd-9 media in same situation, these thigns happen when your a real collector and want backups of original media.

One example would be if they were captured directly to WMV through Windows Media Encoder or such other, then the WMV is the original video and audio source.
