I have been using this guide HERE...
http://www.bobsomers.com/articles/encoding-dvds-to-high-quality-movie-files-with-xvid-and-ac3-1/
...to backup all my DVD's onto my hard drive. I am generally doing this at very high quality, while still trying to reduce file sizes considerably. Generally, 2 hour movies end up a bit under 2gb.
However, I have a few rips I would like to combine into a single file (for example, the Lord of the rings movies all have 2 dvd's per movie). I have tried a few programs I found on www.download.com to do this, as well as using the append function in VirtualDubMod. It generally joins succesfully as far as the video is concerned, but the audio ends up being out of sync in the second part of the video that was added, while the first half of the video is perfect. This only happens on some files, but I think my problem is that on some of these files, I had to correct the audio, because it would get out of sync as the movie wore on. So, I did the fix in virtual dub mod, and everything worked great, until I tried to join them with another file, where, if both files didn't have the exact same audio delay problem, it would throw the second part off time, since it just looks at the first file and sets the audio according to that one.
That is all theory, but basically, does anybody know of any programs that should fix this problem, or any hidden features of virtual dub mod I don't know about, which could fix only half of the audio/video and leave the rest alone? Thanks in advance. Let me know if I need to explain anything better.
