Plextor m402u av sync problem solved. Now vertical stripes!

I have recently bought a new PC & have been experimenting with capturing from my set top box using a Plextor m402u Convertx Digital Video Converter.

I have had major a/v sync problems - the captured MPEG 2 video lagging the audio by a couple of seconds by the end of a 2 hour movie. I tried capturing using WinDVD Creator 2, GoCap, Plextools & Roxio and all exhibited this problem.

I have just solved it & post it here to save some other poor soul a lot of trouble.
I reluctantly switched off the ntl Netguard virus and spyware protection. It was solved instantly.

I have experienced another problem from time to time. When the TV program being recorded changed, suddenly vertical stripes appeared. See attached.

Any thoughts?

It looks like the signal was not perfectly match, sort of NTSC 3.58 in a NTSC 4.43 thing.

I don't have this problem, my signal was come out from VHS, I'm in a PAL country.

Really hope someone can solve your problem.
