Hi All:)

I have a externel IDE DVD-R, which i have put in a externel case and connected to my Dell Precision M50 vi IEE1394

The External Drive reads both DL + and -
I converted a DVI movie and used NERO 7 ULTRA to encode/burn to DVD-R DL...

I have 2 folders on the DVD-R (video TS and Audio TS (which is empty))....
Now the DVD-R works Perfectly on my externel DVD Writer no probs

But on my

Dell Precision M50............Nothing wont read

Alba DVD 45Xi.................Nothing wont read

Cambridge Audio DVD 53...Works, but after 30 mins Skips and stops

Toshiba SD-23UB DVD/VHS......Works, but after 30 mins Skips and stops

My brothers PC DVD.....nothing wont read
But when i connected my Externel DVD up..it works in that drive

WHATS HAPPENING:scared:

Also

Will buying a IDE HD-DVD Drive for a PC, do the same

The Media used VERBATIM DVD-R DL (azo layer)

Hope someone can help

Hi!

Three things that knowledgable users will advise you regarding burning DVD9 (double layer) media:

1) Use ONLY Verbatim D/L DVD+R media. It's presently the only brand and format that's consistently produced successful results. Therefore, do not use D/L DVD-R media...

2) If your burner doesn't automatically do so, manually select "bitsetting"

3) Use (freeware) "IMGBurn" to burn. It apparently does the best job of setting the "layer break" (a critical function) for D/L burnable media

Thanks for the quick response....may i ask a few questions just to finish this thread off

1) are all comercial movie DVD mostly + or -

2) Why are + DL more compatible than -DL is it to to with the die or spiral structure of the disc layers

3) I was thinking of using TRAXDATA DVD+R DUAL LAYER as i can get them for £1.50 each.....are they any good...or should i stick to Verbatim, as Verbatim DVD DL + and - are still very expensive.

4) Will a HD-DVD Player and IDE HD DVD Drive..play DVD-R DL better than most comercial home DVD players

5) why are'nt the prices of DVD DL media falling in price...as Blu-ray and HD DVD..will be here soon.

thanks

are all comercial movie DVD mostly + or - Commercial DVDs are NEITHER - They are DVD-ROMs, PRESSED, not BURNEDwhy are'nt the prices of DVD DL media falling in price...Apparently, you haven't been in the market long enough. D/L media has fallen from $12.00US each (at inception) to as little as $1.20US each, presently...

[B]2) Why are + DL more compatible than -DL is it to to with the die or spiral structure of the disc layers
+DL supports bitsetting, which makes old DVD players think they're playing a commercial DVD.

Stick to Verbatim if you want good results.
