Anyone notice that text rendered by Subtitle or SubtitleEx is much bolder than it is in other applications?
Any known work arounds?

The default colours seem to have been choosen for just that purpose.
Choose softer foreground and shadow colours.

Ian thanks for your reply but it doesn't make any sense to me because Subtitle doesn't seem to have any shadow argument as you mentnion (if you mean halo that doesn't help).
After playing around a bit more it seems this is the case:
Subtitle - Always bold text, nothing you can do.
SubtitleEx - Add this parameter to remove the bold:
effects=""

Okay I now understand your question.
Yes, SubTitle() always chooses the BOLD and Non-Italic version of the named font.
And no there is currently no way to change that behaviour.
For SubTitleEx() you found the Effects= option.
Choosing high contrast foreground and Halo/Shadow colours makes the text stand out vividly.
