View Full Version : Nero AAC changes file length?

When I started using megui this past summer I used the Nero AAC encoder, but abruptly it stopped working properly a few months ago. I tried re-downloading it but to no avail. Now whenever I try to encode some audio, the output file is a different length than the input file. For example, one ac3 I just tried is 42m:47s but the output Nero AAC is 42m:07s. This creates all kinds of hell when I try to mux the file as either an mp4 or mkv. I've been using FAAC's VBR since.

Suggestions?

I just found out something new while trying to find out if the file had been truncated or scaled to the new length. Big surprise... when I opened the audio in VLC it continued playing past the "end" of the file until it reached the point where the original was supposed to stop.

Another update... just tried muxing again (I hadn't almost since the problem started) and an mkv wrapper seems to work fine.
