Hi!

I've been in the conversion/digital community for awhile but with the advent of creating a media PC have just come to grips with converting to MPEG-4.

When converting DVD's to MPEG-4 I use Fair Use Wizard. But I also need to convert MPEG-2 files to MPEG-4. I downloaded Auto Gordian Knot version 2.6 that came out in December.

When I am trying to convert my stream to MPEG-4 I get the following error. "DGIndex is not an Avisynth 1.0 plugin" and it will not proceed to crunch my video. The version of Avisynth I have is 2.54 which I believe came down in the Auto GK package.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the AutoGK package and this time got a Virtual DubMod Error. The files I am trying to convert are MPEG 2 files 720x 480 resolution generated by a Hauppauge Roslyn card using Beyond TV Express 4.5. I have not downloaded the original Gordian Knot. Is this something I need to do? The Auto GK I downloaded said it was the whole package.

I'm running a 3.25 Gig Celeron D with 1 GB DDR2533 Ram, a Hauppauge Roslyn MPEG 2 Decoder and an ATI Radeon 9600SE video card with 128Meg on board and TV out.

The board is PC Chips, but all drivers are utd and I am not getting any other issues.

I have spent several hours reading over posts here and at video help.com and have seen some avisynth and vdubmod problems in early releases of AutoGK, but this problem doesn't seem to have been cropping up lately. This is a new PC I have put together and I had downloaded Nemo Codec Pack to correct a previous issue of upside down video.

Does anybody have any help for me?

Thanks

Bill

one question and two hints

1) What virtualdubmod error ?
2) read the faq
3) never, never, never install codec pack

Yeah, in my reading of previous posts I came across the never, never download codec packs. I never would have to begin with if not for trying to cure the upside down video problem in WMPlayer. I'll have to uninstall the Nemo pack.

My wife cancelled out the VdubMod error before I could copy it down and I'm now at work, so I'll have to recreate the magic :-)

I've been reading the 200+ page sticky on the latest version of Auto GK and read the FAQ on the AutoGK site, but I'll keep digging.

My guess is there is some version conflict somewhere? Have there been any compatibility issues between Beyond TV 4 and Auto GK?

thanks for your help!

Beyond TV 4 and Auto GK

no, for sure. i have now tested a small sample (recorded with btv 4) and got no error

must be something in your configuration, try reinstalling agk 2.40, or post the error :)

I'll reinstall it again. I'm guessing I should first unintall separately the different programs that come in Auto GK? Uninstall Virtualdubmod, avisynth and Xvid. I got the Divx codec directly from their website.

Before changing I will try to encode again and specifically note the error.

I appreciate your help!

Sorry for the delay... I re-ran Auto G/K. It made it through the first pass, but when using VirtualDub Mod... it gave this error...

VirtualDubError AVIOutput: Access is Denied. When I go look at the pieces that were created I see the first pass output. I'm not sure what is happening. Can anyone tell me where logs are stored for AutoGK? I can't seem to locate them.

I have not yet done my third uninstall/reinstall.

Thanks

Do you by any chance use Symantec AntiVirus?

billqs
2nd February 2007, 15:05
Nope. I use Anti-Vir on my media PC. Should I shut it down while encoding?

Thanks, sqid-80! I turned off the Antivirus, changed the output directory and it worked!

billqs,

Well this seems to be a common problem for various AV packages. At least Symantec, F-secure Internet Control and now Antivir (I guess) have been reported.

Instead of turning off AV software (hmmm..) you could try this http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=120575 or directly from sourceforge http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=65889&package_id=63653&release_id=352709. Changelog for VirtualDubMod 1.5.10.2 here http://sourceforge.net/project/shownotes.php?group_id=65889&release_id=352709, almost at the end of list.

I might be wrong, but what if BeyondTV is checking the folder contents during the encoding as discussed here:
http://forums.snapstream.com/vb/showthread.php?t=24839.

Please post your feedback.

hi,

I'm also having trouble.
VirtualDub Error: Avisynth open Failure
wmultof must be non zero ... line 8

here is the avs script:
LoadPlugin("F:\AutoGK\DGMPGDec\DGDecode.dll")
LoadPlugin("F:\AutoGK\filters\autocrop.dll")
LoadPlugin("F:\AutoGK\filters\RemoveGrainSSE3.dll")

movie = DirectShowSource("D:\TV\test.avi",23.976).KillAudio()
movie = isRGB(movie) ? ConvertToYV12(movie) : movie
movie = isYUY2(movie) ? ConvertToYV12(movie) : movie
cropclip = autocrop(movie,mode=0,wmultof=4,hmultof=4,samples=10,aspect=0,threshold=0,samplestartframe=0,leftadd=0,rightadd=0,topadd=0,bottomadd=0)
fixed_aspect = 1
c_width = width(cropclip)
c_height = round(height(cropclip) / fixed_aspect)
input_par = float(c_width)/float(c_height)
input_par = (input_par > 1.4) || (input_par < 1.25) ? input_par : (4.0/3.0)
out_width = 320
out_height = round(float(out_width) / input_par)
hmod = out_height - (floor(out_height / 16 ) * 16)
out_height = (hmod > 4) ? (out_height + (16 - hmod)) : (out_height - hmod)
new_aspect = (float(out_width) / float(out_height)) / fixed_aspect
autocrop(movie,mode=0,wmultof=4,hmultof=4,samples=10,aspect=new_aspect,threshold=0,samplestartframe=0,leftadd=0,rightadd=0,topadd=0,bottomadd=0)
LanczosResize(out_width,out_height)
SelectRangeEvery(200,14)

I downloaded the VdubMod Version mentioned above and thisabled my anti virus soft, but no luck.

any ideas ?

regards,

mike

When I turned off my A/V software I also got rid of Beyond TV in the tray and had no problem. Later, though I just turned off the AV without ending the Beyond TV tray application and it still worked, so I don't think Beyond TV was causing the error. I will follow the above links to tweak VDubMod so that AV can run, since that's the safest for my computer.

Thanks!

Bill

For those that see the VirtualDubError AVIOutput: Access is Denied when running AutoGK to convert videos, and you have Beyond TV installed, I eventually realized that this only happens when I am saving the new file in a Beyond TV recordings folder. Once I tell it to save it somewhere else, it works fine. And I love AutoGK's Xvid converting ability! It's going to save me a lot of hard drive space.
