Hi,

I've ordered a dual layer DVD burner that should arrive in a week. In the meantime, I wanted to use Tmpgenc DVD Author 1.6 to author dual layer DVDs and save them as files onto my hard drive so I can simply burn them once my burner arrives.

However, eventhough version Tmpgenc 1.6 supports authoring dual layers DVDs, when I go through the process, there is nothing to tell Tmpgenc that I'll be using a dual layer disk. As a result, it still lists the disk capacity as a regular 4.4 GB disk.

Will Tmpgenc only allow you to author in the dual layer format if you have an actual compatible burner physically installed?

Hi!it still lists the disk capacity as a regular 4.4 GB disk.Are you sure that your authoring project SHOULD be greater than 4.37Gb (4.7"GB" per the "TMPGEnc DVD Author" display)?

Such a limitation seems illogical, since the program doesn't require a burner at all...

I don't understand your question why the project size should be greater than 4.37 Gb. My initial post was in regards to authoring a dual layer dvd which, obviously, is greater than 4.37 Gb.

Regardless, I found the answer. You can manually select a single or dual layer setting under options>environmnetal settings in TDA 1.6.

My initial post was in regards to authoring a dual layer dvd which, obviously, is greater than 4.37 Gb.Oft'times posters have less understanding of their problems than they'd like to believe. I have no idea what your level of knowledge is, so I was attempting to find out whether it might be possible that your DVD "package" was actually small enough to fit on a DVD-5, without you realizing it.Regardless, I found the answer.Glad to hear you've resolved your dilemma ;>}
