29.97 or 23.976 framerate

a little confused on what framerate i should be using. i have read guides that say use 29.97 (nicky's) and guides that say use 23.976 (doom9). is there a right one and a wrong one or will both framerates work. hoping someone can clear the confusion up for me.

That depends on the movie that you are encoding.

If using the DVD2Avi and TMPGEnc method:

Preview your movie in DVD2AVI.
1- If it says FILM XX (and this XX is greater than 90 %), when doing projects check the "FORCE FILM" feature. Then encode with TMPGEnc at 23.976 fps.
2- If it says NSTC or FILM XX (XX smaller than 90%)then uncheck "FORCE FILM" feature and encode in TMPGEnc at 29.97 fps.

About 99% of movies are encode as "FILM". For more information check guides in this site...:cool:
