I understand that it is relatively easy to retrieve title keys from a player that runs in windows. But in order to generate a title key the player needs a device key, and so far it is not public knowledge on how to get those. My question, is how is it possible for title keys to be leaked, while device keys have not. Doesn't a device key have to be stored on the file system? If the program can get that key, why cant a determined user do it aswell?

I'm pretty sure device keys can and have been found, it's just that they're of much less use than the Volume Unique Keys (VUK's). The reason being that the device keys can be revoked, while the VUK's cannot.

The Device key is probably hidden way more.
Spread out at diffrent memory locations and only valid
after it been manupilated by the CPU registrys .

e.g it's never in memory in clear view state.
