Problems with Vista and Powerdvd 7.2 Ultra

I am trying to play HD-DVD on Vista I am having a problem. The sound works perfect but I have no video.. It is just a black screen. Has anyone else had this problem?

I have had success with Vista and PDVD 7.2 and I can tell you it works fine...

Can you detail your graphics card and drivers you are using currently?

I have a Radeon X850 my current driver build is 8.31.100.321.. I have this problem playing from the drive and also the rips

Ok i just updated to the latest 7.1 catalyst that was released today and also did a fresh install of vista and powerdvd 7.1 still has no video.

have you tried disabling hardware acceleration in PDVD?

Also can you see the SPDIF option listed in the dropdown in the audio tab in PDVD under vista?

if yes, which soundcard are you using?

maybe your x850 does not support hdcp...

I am at class right now later tonight i will get if Hardware acceleration is on. I bet that is my problem:)

My card does not support HDCP but that should not matter. I have a dual monitor system one over dVI and the other VGA when Powerdvd is on the DVI monitor and i play the disk it tells me i can not play it.. However when i drag it over the to VGA monitor the movie starts right up I can hear it just no video. Also i have the same problem with the video when using the decrypted video. Meaning this is not a HDCP problem..

In "Theater Mode" panel on CCC, you should choose "the same on all displays" for clone mode. (I assume your monitors work clone mode)

Running in clone mode does not work. Also unplugging one monitor does not work either.

As for spdif yes the option is there. I am using a X-Fi Platinum

Anyone find a solution for this? I am using Vista x64 with Catalyst 7.3. I can see video and hear audio on my primary display (Samsung 940bw), but when I set my Samsung 46" DLP as the primary display and disable the 940bw I can hear the audio but the screen is blank.

Well I don't know how much truth there is to is but I read on another forum that if you get the black video screen but can hear the audio then your graphics card isn't up to the task or on the supported list for PowerDVD Ultra.
