I think my machine is capable of playing HD since I can play 1080p H.264 files. So I think, I don't need to upgrade my machine. I would just like to know what HD DVD I should buy.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

I would say get the xbox drive if you dont mind an external drive. It is the cheapest drive out and if you have or ever get an xbox 360 then you can hook it up to that anytime. If you have vista the drive works perfect plug it in and you are ready to go if you have xp it takes a driver but still very easy..

Great! I will save some money and hopefully by April("my birthday"), I can buy it. :)

It's not that expensive.
I got the xbox 360 HD DVD player at Circuit City for $159.99 + tax as I used the $40 off coupon from here (PDF) (http://www.zshare.net/download/cccoupon12_24_06-pdf.html)
It scanned just fine, no manager override needed.

Will CC accept it even if it's only a print out?

A B/W laser printout worked for me.
Print it out so it's pretty big so it can scan at the register.
Without having to call a manager for a override it's more likely to slip through
But only 2 day left for this specific coupon (maybe others out there?)

I have just got the drive, i used the UDF 2.5 driver that is linked in other posts but I cannot explore the disc in the drive. The drive is labelled as a CD drive. I also installed another driver I found to get rid of the exclamation mark in Hardware manager.
What am I missing?
Thanks

What happened to the Lite-On HD-DVD drive that was being discussed back in late November on a few of the hardware sites? As I recall it was supposedly to retail in the $100 range

Using an Xbox 360 HD-DVD Drive on a PC (http://www.pcw.co.uk/personal-computer-world/features/2170703/xbox360-hd-dvd-pc)
download the 2.5MB Toshiba driver (http://rapidshare.com/files/3149367/XBOX360-1.HD-DVDRom.UDF.Reader.v2.5.WindowsXP-BluePrint.rar.html)
