Set up XVID to use quant=1 on Full quality first pass?

Yes, create a zone and set a fixed Quantizer of 1.

A little reminder: Unless you are aiming for 1 movie per DVD or something similiar this will very probably make 2nd pass less accurate. Choose a quantizer for 1st pass that is as close as possible to the average quantizer you're likely to get for the 2nd pass.

I've experimented a little and there seems to be no way - Xvid doesn't care for any quantizer settings on "Full quality first pass", it's always 2 for i- and 4 for b-frames.
2 ist not "Full quality", it would be really nice if it was changeable ... or why not always write a PASS file?

Did you define a _zone_ with constant quantizer=1?

you do not even have to create/define a zone. Just use the default zone which is frame 0 to end then click the Quantizer check button and set the Q=1

works great for me doing that way. Been doing it that way for years :)
