heya! :D i'm trying to encode a 40 sec video with MeGUI into an AVI/XviD file. but no matter what bitrate I type in, 500/1000/1500kbit, the AVI file has the same size aprox 11MB. i used the automated 2pass mode, turbo on. can somebody help me?? 10x a lot guys.

You've read the sticky and checked your log to make sure you aren't maxing out at 2 for all the quants, right?

Try using one of the other xvid profiles, make sure you have the right matrices for them. The 90% ones definitely won't undersize anything.

If that's not it, are you hitting "no" when the box "Do you want to update your profile?" comes up after you hit okay? I'd consider that a horrible design mistake by MeGUI, because it will use the original profile and not the one you just intended to.

i've created my own XviD profile and, yes, i've saved it. i used none of the custom matrices just the MPEG Quantization.

40sec at 11MB means over 2200kbps. That does not look like Q2 maxing out. Have you tried 2-pass encoding using Virtualdub ?

:thanks: I solved the problem. a "load defaults" helped me a lot :D
even though the custom "Quantizer Matrix" wasn't enabled and MPEG Quantizer was selected, MeGUI did take the custom matrix written in the box.
