Can we convert HD-DVD files to WMV files yet?

It'd be nice just streaming stuff to my Xbox360 from my PC instead of moving my HD-DVD player back and forth. :D

You can demux EVOBs into elementary VC-1 and DDP streams so you can probably get the video inside a WMV container, but the audio would take some transcoding. It's lossless, so DDP -> WMA9 Lossless wouldn't reduce the quality any.

Long story short, you can do it in graphedit if you have Scenarist 4.

the scene have done this, they have used x264 and 5.1.

as you have pointed out yourself that was x264, not VC-1 inside WMV as the OP requested.

true, but the poster wanted to stream it to his 360, i believe he just wanted it in some hd format that he could stream e.g x264, xvid etc.

he didnt say anything about vc-1

Well, the title is "Can we convert HD-DVD files to WMV", and since we can't package x264 or XViD into WMV, yet, it's clear that he meant VC-1/WMV9 AP.

Also, an unmodded XBOX360 can't play XViD or the typical profiles of x264, anyway.

you can play high def x264 with some new media streamer software players to the 360. same with xvid.

Well, I would like to know how to put VC1 into WMV container. If anyone has a clue, it would be much appreciated.

Do you have links to that solution? And are you sure it really supports the typical profiles/levels of x264? AFAIK even HD-DVD/Blu-ray players don't support those.

...It's lossless, so DDP -> WMA9 Lossless wouldn't reduce the quality any.DDP - if you meant DD+ - is not lossless and using something like VBR WMA Pro with high enough PBR should be enough.
