Mp2 Muxing/????

HI THERE - I have been downloadinh some music videos that are in VOB format - so I figured some of them could be compressed- that way you could fit more on a disc.
However I noticed that the Audio is sometimes in Mp2 format or LPCM or other....

What's the rule for encoding here??? can they be muxed properly or do they have to recompressed or even converted too??? Cause I noticed when I did this the videos wouldn't play....

Forgive me - 98% of what I have is stuff I bought myself - I just downloaded these few to try them out from a torrent. I figure if they're good - then I'll buy some.. I just can't seem to find any. Maybe eBay has some??????
