View Full Version : Delay? What do I do with it?

K, so for various reasons, I'm encoding my DVDs using StaxRip to encode the video into iPod-compatible h264 (MP4) while using BeLight to encode my audio into iPod-compatible AAC and then I use YAMB to mux the two streams together.

Now, when Staxrip demuxes the audio of my audio files, I get files with names like:
EP11A T03 2_0ch 128Kbps DELAY 40ms.ac3

I can only assume that StaxRuo automatically inputs that 40 ms delay for me. Or do I have to do it myself?

Also, do I have to input the delay when importing the stream into YAMB? Or can I just skip it (I want perfect sync)?

You can use AC3DELAY tool to process the file and add the delay (number from the filename), or some tools (VirtualDub?) will allow you to specify a delay for the audio during encode/mux.

But I'm supposed to add the delay, right? I'm not supposed to just ignore it? I have to add it if I want to have a video with correctly synched audio?

Yes, you must include the delay if you want proper sync.
