Try ripping your DVD(s) using the easy to use "RipIt4me" package (Incorporates RipIt4Me, DVD Decrypter, FixVTS, and DVD Shrink). You can download this excellent freeware from:

I had the same problem, but ripIt4Me seems to be doing ok. It's running now. Will post results. At least it can see it. :-)

My computer took forever to recognize that dvd. They put like 90 .vobs on the disc that are just fluff. Just give your computer some time, i think mine took close to 3 minutes to recognize that freakin disc.

I used ripit4me and apparently there's nearly 100 VTS files that may be bogus. DDecrypter threw about four error messages at saying that it was unsuccessful patching the file. It finished the rip, ran through FixVTS, but it won't load into DVDShrink.
Trying a couple of things...

I tried to perform a second rip via ripit4me and after creating a PSL, DDecrypter was loading and gave me the error --

"ParseVTSM Runtime Exception!"
"File: VTS_16_0.IFO"

I've never seen this before - don't know if it means anything.

From another forum:This movie can be done in RipIt4Me 1.6.4.0 with FixVTS 1.6.0.3.Make certain you have both the proper version of "RipIt4Me" and the proper version of "FixVTS"...

I am in the same boat as these guys. I am a frequent user of RipIt4Me and have not encountered anything like this in the past. I have the current version as well as the one of FixVTS but still got the same error just as the decrypter phase was going to finish. "On-the-fly IFO/BUP file patching failed!"

i had trouble decrypting saw 3 i used any dvd and DVDfab 3.5 and found that DVDfab 2.9 and then shrink did an awsome job and it played perfect.

I use ripit4me frequently myself and I encountered the problems as well. However, I believe I noticed that on the ripit4me website something was stated about a couple of edits that were done. There wasn't a newer version created which explains why the software wouldn't recognize it.
Never-the-less, I manually reinstalled the latest versions of both ripit4me as well as FixVTS and proceeded to re-rip the dvd. The only other thing that I had changed was "Step 3" where you can remove a series of useless and tiny cells. I made sure all boxes were checked and proceeded.
The alert that you may see from DDecrypter regarding a runtime exception (possibly concerning VTS_16_0.IFO). Doesn't appear to be a problem. Like blutach said - just click through it/them. A friend had a problem with replacing the existing programs so if all else fails then completely uninstall ripit4me and FixVTS and then reinstall. He had no problems when he did this.
I've completed the rip and burn and everything seems to be proper.

Make sure that RipIt is set to look for FixVTS in it's new installation folder. I must've uninstalled it 4x, until I noticed that it was still recognizing 1.6.0.2. It's in the RipIt settings. Mine, for instance, was pointing to where it had been placed for PGCEdit.

Well, the RipIt4Me (http://www.ripit4me.org/) site, in red says, reinstall and it will install FixVTS 1.6.0.3 in the right place.

While there's been lotsa "traffic" on this one today (mainly in the AnyDVD forums, which can't decrypt this DVD), plenty of people are reporting success in all modes with RipIt4Me.

It installs it in the right place, but it retains all of your exact settings if you were already using RipIt with the standalone EXE. As I said, I had mine set to look for FixVTS in C:\Program Files\PGCEdit\bin\FixVTS.exe (ver 1.6.0.2). I had to adjust the settings manually.

In essence, the installer doesn't take into consideration the original system settings (probably in the system or system32 folder) for RipIt, if it's already being used.

I had this problem under Win2k, so I don't know if all you XP'ers would have to worry about it.

I tried ripping Saw III with DVDFab Decryptor and it just choked on it. I had installed RipIt4Me a while ago but never found a need to use it since DVDFab Decryptor was ripping everything I could throw at it without breaking a sweat - until now, that is.

I started RipIt4Me and it prompted me to download the latest version right off the bat. I installed the latest version and fired it up using the One-Click Mode and just sat back and watched it do its thing. I didn't have DVDShrink installed so I couldn't check it after the rip. I then burned the VIDEO_TS folder to a blank DVD-RW disc and it played back with no problems.

I still prefer DVDFab Decryptor for most of my ripping chores since it will handle most all of them and do it much faster. I can generally rip a full DVD in less than 13 minutes vs. the 45 minutes it took to do Saw III with RipIt4Me. OTOH, not being able to rip it at all is of no use to anyone. I will say that RipIt4Me does greatly simplify the task of dealing with tough discs to rip, especially when you consider how long it takes to do everything manually. All in all, a nice little proggie.:D

45 mins sounds like a long time. Sounds like your drive slowed down on the ARccOS sectors (this happens to me).

Shouldn't take any longer than a normal rip (plus the analysis time - say 2 minutes).

I didn't actually clock the elapsed time but I thought I noticed that it indicated that it took 44 minutes and change when I checked it. I just set it up and watched it run at the beginning and then went to the next room to watch TV. I don't recall it actually taking that long so I could be wrong.

Mine took quite a while to decrypt while it was in the DVD Decrypter phase. It had all the dummy sectors to replace. Otherwise, everything went perfectly using RipIt4Me and FixVTS.
I've never had to use this combo before. AnyDVD always worked but not for this movie. Thanks for the help guys!!

dvon76, it depends on your DVD reader and where you are burning it to. Usually it can go from anywhere between 13mins right up to 23mins for me.

I'm using rip it for me and it usually takes about 45 minutes at least for the dvd to completely burn. One thing I don't understand is what do you mean when you say where you are burning it too. Can you fill me in? Sorry if I sound a little new, just trying to learn all of this stuff.

Sorry, I meant to say "ripping it to". If you rip it to a USB drive etc, it will take longer to perform the rip.

With the newer protections, it can take a little bit for DVD Decrypter to put in the stuffing packs. You might want to look at FAQ 17 (http://www.ripit4me.org/faq.html#faq17). Also make sure your DMA is set correctly (http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=44808).

Hi , I tried to use dvdfab decrypter last night and had no luck , today as i used dvd fab decrypter again a window opened up about a new version , i downloaded it as a free trial and was able to to copy and burn Saw 3

There is a problem or error I came across when creating the ISO image of Saw III. I used RipIt4Me 1.6.6.0 to make the ISO but during the ripping process, it came across an error I have never seen before. Twice it said:

W 00:37:04 On-the-fly IFO/BUP file patching failed!
W 00:37:04 File Name: VTS_16_0.IFO
W 00:37:04 Size: 81,920 bytes
W 00:37:04 Reason: PatchIFO failed.

and

W 00:41:54 On-the-fly IFO/BUP file patching failed!
W 00:41:54 File Name: VTS_40_0.IFO
W 00:41:54 Size: 81,920 bytes
W 00:41:54 Reason: PatchIFO failed.

(I clicked OK to continue the rip each time)

On the other hand, the operation was successfully completed (in 1:12:30 !!) Can someone please let me know if the image is still good and can be burned on a DVD-9 dual layer disc with no problems.

I tried ripping Saw III today and none of my ripping tools can detect it. I used DVD Decrypter and DVDFab Platinum. I have not had a problem with either of these programs before with any other movies. So does Saw III have something new to deture us?

I was able to decrypt swa ii and openn season with dvd fab platinum 3.0.7 i down loaded it from the web as a free 30 day trial , great picture and sound on both movies and no glitches

Did sawIII sunday night. initial processing time of RI4M was 17 min & change for the main movie for a little over 5GB. DVD Shrink anaylasis and processing was 28 min & change. Burnning from drive to sata "n" hdd folder for videoTS; than burning from videoTS to Image on same "n".
No problems at all from inception of RI4M on any movie, so far.
Also keep both RI4M and FixVTS up to date with all default settings.
When either tells me there is an update I get it, don't want to take a chance of missing something or losing the chance. After all it's free.
But then again, that's how I am.
