For starters check this link

http://mpucoder.kewlhair.com/Derrow/index.html

I think you might be doing too much work. I suggest that if you don't have a DVD-RW disc that you pick one up (not a DVD+RW they don't work with your drive). It will save you alot of money until you get the hang of things. Once you succesfully burn and test the RW then you can burn the contents to R.

If the dvd you are trying to copy is less than 4.3 gb (or 4,700,000,000 bytes) then all you should have to do is rip the entire contents of the disc (see this link for using smart ripper):
http://mpucoder.kewlhair.com/Derrow/smartrip.html

Then I normally use Prassi PrimoDVD 2.0 to burn the contents (make sure your movie files are in a folder named "VIDEO_TS") to a dvd. See this link for this:
http://mpucoder.kewlhair.com/Derrow/primo.html

Or here to use Nero Burning Rom 5.5.6.4:
http://mpucoder.kewlhair.com/Derrow/nero.html

I recommend using Prassi PrimoDVD when you first start. It checks the validity of your files and won't burn them if they aren't correct. To my knowledge Nero dosn't do that. Prassi came with my A03. What software did you get?

If the disc is too big then still rip the entire contents as you did above.

Now you have to determine where the main movie files are. Normally this will the the longest consecutive chain of sequential vob files. It will always start with VTS_0X_1.VOB (not VTS_0X_0.VOB). In this example I use Tomb Raider (region 1). In the example below the main movie is contained in VTS_03_1.VOB thru VTS_03_4.VOB. The movie is less than 2 hours (aprox. 100 minutes) so it should fit.

As we can see the entire disc is too big for our 4.3 (4,700,000,000) DVD-R. The easiest thing to do is just put the movie on disc and forget about the extras (this will save you a day or longer of re-encoding)

Follow this link for more details:
http://mpucoder.kewlhair.com/Derrow/create.html

Warning the following method can take you more than 24 hours to complete depending on your comptuer hardware and it could result in choppy video.
If your main movie Vob files are too big (normally if you have than a series of 4 consecutive VOBs for example if you had VTS_03_1.VOB, VTS_03_2.VOB, VTS_03_3.VOB, VTS_03_4.VOB and VTS_03_5.VOB or more then it will be too big) or you want to keep all of the original contents then try this link and follow the first post by bumblebe:

Software needed

SmartRipper
Prasi PrimoDVD 2.0 (or) Nero Burning Rom 5.5.6.4
Rempeg152
ifoedit .80 (or newer)
Vob File Merger (or similar program that will merge files)
PowerDVD XP (make sure it's XP or 4.0 this one works best)

This will work for MOST dvds but not all. You can copy your main movie VOB files to a seperate directory and try playing them with PowerDVD XP to make sure you have the right ones.
