I have read quite a few guides and FAQS on burning but i need help with this one. I recently copied one of my movies: The Bourne Supremacy. The movie works on my PC and on my XBOX360. I tried it on a crappy JVC player we have and got an error message. Then i tried it on two sonys we have and i got the message Playback prohibited by area limitations. I know sonys are picky about burned dvds but i am just curious if i did anything wrong.

There's no need for posts of this nature. It's both rude and against the forum rules (http://forum.doom9.org/forum-rules.htm). It's also been asked and answered many times over, and your solution will have been posted here before. Instead of just bumping, you could have included more information like how exactly you created this copy.

Im sorry if it came off as rude as it was not intended. I have searched the FAQ's and guides on this site and have not come across an answer. I will search more for posts on the subject but if you know of one and could post it i would appreciate it. I burned it by using DVD Decrypter to put the DVD on my HD then burning it IMGBurn.

hi parental and welcome to the forum!

to begin with, we will need a few additional details from you in regards to your procedure.

so:
1. decrypted/copied original disc onto pc using dvd decrypter - which mode did you use? iso/file/ifo?
2. what did you then do to these files?
3. did you need to 'shrink' the dvd to fit onto a dvd-5 blank disc or did you use DL media.
4. have previous back-ups using the same technique played in your standalones?

cheers

I got the CD and put it on my HD with DVD Shrink in iso format. I then proceeded to burn the DVD with ImgBurn. Im not sure if i needed to shrink the dvd as i just leave the compression settings on automatic. I have burned about 5-10 movies with this same technique and it has worked.

personally i would never use dvd shrink to decrypt a dvd - i would always use dvd decrypter or the RiptIt4me method (to bypass newer protection techniques).

without a more detailed methodology, i can only hazard to guess that it may be poor media related ...
