Adding Subtitle to DVD Iso

Hi..

I got the SAW III DVD Iso... But it's subbed in English and Spanish only, and I would like to add the Portugueses Sub...

I found here how to delete a Sub... using Ifoedit or VobEdit... But... how to add one???

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Well, unfortunately to add a new subtitle stream is not as simple as deleting one.

DVD subtitles are stored as graphic images (bitmap format). If your Portuguese subs are in text format you will have to create a new subpic bitmap stream first. I recommend using SubtitleCreator for this (create a .sup file).

Then you'll need to separate ("demux") the video, audio and subtitle streams in your DVD and put them back together ("mux") with your new subtitle stream. I recommend PgcDemux for the former procedure, and MuxMan for the latter. SubtitleCreator also has a built-in wizard that will guide you in this process, if you like.

Note that you need to extract the VIDEO_TS folder from your .iso file (or mount the image), to be able to work with it.

If you want to keep your menus and bonus material etc. on the DVD, you will need to do some work with VobBlanker, IfoUpdate or PgcEdit after muxing.

All of the above tools are freeware (or they come in a freeware version). The commercial program DVD Lab Pro is able to do most of the above steps for you (except keeping the menus etc.?) as an all-in-one tool. Only IMHO the subtitles created in DVD Lab Pro doesn't look as good as the ones created with SubtitleCreator.

Just a short note - if you have ripped this DVD as an ISO, most of the ARccOS will still be there. Better to have ripped it in File mode - no need for Daemon tools then and you can get rid of the tiny cells with PgcEdit which so often cause sync issues when remuxing.

i'm working with dvd maestro...
subtitle workshop and maestroSBT...
tmpegenc to demux/mux the movies...

i have the dvd ripped (copyright protections disabled), mounted, and running..

It has VTS_01 ... VTS_99 .VOB, .IFO and the VIDEO_TS

I want to keep the menus and extras the way they are... except for the subtitles submenu that I wanna add the Pt-br sub...

Will VObEdit, IfoEdit and similar help me???
in which .vob/.ifo file are the menus located??

Are you dealing with Saw 3? It's not the easiest one to start, it is pure crap...
Sorry, I do not have this DVD, Ive just seen the IFOs once because they didn't load in VobBlanker, but IIRC, starting on VTS16 the VTSs are fake.

EDIT:
So, if you are going to use VobBlanker to replace the title, please use the latest beta. No other one will load the DVD
Same with FixVTS, you need the latest version.

Ok.. using the DVD Shrink i've figured somethings out...

The menu is in VTS_1... it's a 357mb movie, with 6' of continuous play with the menu images... some kind of menu development keeps playing it in time ranges... (ie. the first 40s is the main menu)...

The movie itself is located at the VTS_08_1,2,3 and 4.VOB
The other 99 titles are extras.

When i try to reauthor the menu in dvd shrink, it breaks the VTS_1 in 14 files... each one with a menu part...

does these information help you helping me??? if someone need any information, please... just ask... and i'll answer it asap...

Hi!

It sounds like your .ISO rip of the DVD is less than perfect.

I'd suggest you try ripping your DVD using the easy to use "RipIt4me" package (Incorporates RipIt4Me, DVD Decrypter, FixVTS, and DVD Shrink). You can download this excellent freeware from:

While you're at that site, read the excellent "how to" tutorial...

Saw 3 is really in VTS 8, and the menus in VTS 1. Nothing abnormal here.
