I was wondering if there is any software to burn a title onto the external part of a dvd disc?

I am presently using an external BenQ 162I and a Sony 810 UL which I am very please with the results from for my backups, however would like to put a nice title etc on the disc itself and not a label.
Presently i write the title on the backup.

I like the above writers as I can set them to burn in DVD ROM and have no problems with them playing on anyone in the family's standalone players.

I have been looking at the LG 16X GSA - E10L which the sales rep suggested Philips DVD R- media for and it has Light Scribe.
I have an extensive inventory of media for the above external burners that I now use and wonder if they can be used?
The sales rep never mentioned that I had to get specific discs.
I had an LG about a year and a half ago and had problems with it not always playing in all of the family's stand alone players, but I do realize that technology does change.
Will this player allow me to burn in DVD ROM???

The other writers that I have been looking at are
1. HP Dvd 940E at $159.99 and 16X with Light Scribe

2 HP Dvd 840 E at $139.99 and 16X with Light Scribe

Do these writers have settings for DVD ROM? And do they need special discs?

Or maybe there is a software out there that I can use to burn an image onto my dvd's that I do with my present external 162I and Sony 810 UL???

I would appreciate experienced comments, also I should close by asking if putting the image on the external of the disc takes a lot of time to do?

Thankyou for your time.

I think I have googled this topic sufficiently now to realize that nothing exists to do this other than a sticky label which I hate. I was hoping that there was some software that would do the job, however it seems that different media for lightscribe is required to do this and I imagine that it is expensive and also I have posted on 2 external burners that I am currently considering if this burning of image process is not a time consuming project.
You will see my post inquiring about experience with HP and LG external Lightscribe writers and the model numbers that I am looking at.
Thankyou.

If there are any other suggestions though, I would appreciate them.

Casio has a small printer that can label the top side of any disk - the text only version is $50 US.

Thx for the reply, I have been sent a regular dvd and not a light scribe with colour title and scene on the dvd burned into it and it is very impressive.
I am trying to get a hold of the fellow that did it and find out more info.

Are you aware if Casio has software that will do this or any other company, it is Ritek media and not light scribe????

I really look forward to hearing from anyone who can share ideas, thankyou.
Best Regards.

It may simply be a printable disk, which is used with a special inkjet printer. Casio does have a better model of the label printer that can print an image, but only in one color (unless the creator of the disk created his own multicolor image template and used the Casio and 3 or 4 different color cartridges to layer it like a professional print shop would do).

I have been told up here in Northwest Canada that the only choice i have with a printer is either the Epson RC-40 or the Canon 6700 Pixma.
Meanwhile the latter, the canon I have 2 pixma ip 5000 printers that I am so pleased with and along with my canon LIDE 80 and my Canon 460 Scanner which I only use for negatives and slides and thus am not positive of the model number as it is upstairs.
I am not a happy camper as I have 400+ blank dvd's that I can use with my BenQ 162I burner and my Sony 810 DRU 510 External burners, of course now I realize that I have to buy special printable dvd's for them after I have stocked up on a good unfailable inventory.
I was told that since Future shop, Staples, nor Best Buy carried the printable dvd's here in northwest BC that I should inquire with NCIX and buy a Epson RC-40.
I have googled on that model but don't get much info.
Are there users out there as I really would like to get on with these projects which are not really professional, and I have been told to look at the "thumper" and as well the "Avery" which are supposed to put a good label ob.
Then I read and it says that these labels can create problems in the standalone player as they apparently can cause the disc to go out of balance while playing???

I really would appreciate any and all experienced comments, thankyou.
Frankly I am tired of spending all of this extra money to do hobby works like wedding labels which make the end product look really good instead of my hand scrawl but then I wonder what will be new on the horizon if I fork out the money for the Epson or Canon printers.

I really would appreciate comments very much, thankyou

You should not use adhesive labels. The problem isn't with balance (I know someone who puts an address label on one side of his disks so he can write on them with a ball point pen, and he says they always play fine). The full-disk labels tend to shrink with age and warp the edges of the disk upward, making the distance between the media and the laser too great. I have many back-up disks with nice, neat labels that I had to score with a blade to make them flatten out and make readable again. Perhaps you could sell the media you have on eBay and buy printable disks, or check out that Canon labeler. Remember that you were considering LightScribe burners in your first post - the high-end Canon labeler can print in any one of several colors. The LightScribe only does black.
