It is not a region problem. PS2 games are region coded as are DVDs and BR discs. You should not be able to play these in your PS3. It sucks but you should have waited till March to get the EU ones. Also the PS2 games look like crap on the PS3. I recommend playing them on your PS2.

so are you saying that the dvd player inside the ps3 cant have its region settings changed from 1 to 2 surley its a model of blue ray dvd player, that sony have agreed to use in all there players, and all we need to do is find out which company supplies the hardware and then locate the region unlock code or chip that will remove the lock also if muslix has now cracked the blue ray code then copying the discs first will remove the region lock, the problem is i didnt wait till march as it was a gift for my children at christmas and they wer one of only a few to open a ps3 christmas day in the uk, i refuse to believe that there isnt a simple answer to this its a case of knowing which stone to turn over

At the moment there is no code. But Sony could have put a firmware check on their bios and if you change regions it could render the PS3 useless. There is still too much to learn about the PS3. The 360 has been out for a year longer and there is no region unlocking for its dvd drive yet.
