View Full Version : How can I tell whether the DVD I've authored will correctly burn onto a DVD+R DL?

I've recently authored a DVD (with TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6) that will be about 7.5 gigs in size. Once DVD Author created the files for burning, I decided to convert the files to an ISO with DVD Shrink (without compressing any of the files...I just wanted an ISO in order to burn it with DVD Decrypter or ImgBurn. When I went to "Display IFO Layer Break Information" on ImgBurn, it said:

"Optomal L1 Data Zone Start LBA: None Found! (VTS_10) This image has not been mastered correctly for burning onto a double layer (OTP track path) disc. None of the cells meet the 'DVD-Video specification' criteria for a potential layer break position."

All I want to do is to let ImgBurn find a suitable position to put in the layer break before I burn the disc on a DVD+R-DL disc. Now I'm afraid the whole project may not have been authored correctly (even though the ISO plays perfectly on my computer). I've burned many single layered discs created by DVD Author, but this will be my first double-layer attempt. Can someone please help me and tell me what I've done wrong, and how I can correct it before burning? I don't want to create a double layer coaster, as these can become expensive...Any help is greatly appreciated!

Don't use dvdshrink nor imgtool to create a DL iso. Just use Imgburn to burn a DL; Imgburn (v2) lets you burn directly from hd files (menu mode/build; menu output/device).

Hi!I just wanted an ISO in order to burn it with DVD Decrypter or ImgBurn.Instead of creating an ISO image file, why don't you let "TMPGEnc DVD Author" v.1.6 do the burning of the DVD "package" it created?

This way, if something goes wrong, you can contact the program's author/publisher (Pegasys Software) to ask why their program, without generating any error messages, created and burned an unsuccessful D/L DVD.

BTW - I strongly suggest you use ONLY Verbatim D/L DVD+R media.
