Horizontal color artifacts

Hello,

I have a movie which looks like this:

Do you have any idea, what might have caused the artifacts and if it is possible to remove them? Thanks.

These look like interlace artifacts (combing) to me. You don't mention what tools you are using; if "deinterlace" is a brand new technical term to you, our Capture Guide discusses deinterlacing with several tools in Chapter 7.

I know a lot about interlace and it is definitely not this case. The artifacts are in places which don't move. And you can see that the stripes are only red and green. I can even provide a sample movie, but it won't show anything more.

I received the sample from a friend asking me how to fix the video. He said he captured it using PicVideo MJPEG codec. I found out it is captured as interlaced (2 fields) and the fields are not swapped.

Sorry, to my bad eyes they look like interlacing; but I believe you that these are not interlace artifacts.

(I wear two different contact lenses, one for close vision, one for far, neither are for PC monitors.)

Did you use composite to capture? If so, it's probably caused by that. There are Avisynth filters that can help you deal with the noise, I'd try FFT3DFilter/FFT3DGPU. DeVeed might also be able to do the trick (it's also faster than the forementioned filters).

Yes, it comes from a VIVO card connected via composite cable to video source. Do you think that there is a problem with chroma and luma separation?

Unfortunately I don't think a denoise filter is a good solution for this kind artifacts, but I'll try the filters.

S-Video might provide a better result. Still, chroma denoising is not a bad thing anyway.
