Using MeGUI to compress a DVD to x264 right now... my second compress.

At around 90%, the x264.exe encoder slowed down to an absolute crawl. The FPS in MeGUI still says around 30fps and the time remaining isn't changing much, but for each percentage point towards complete, it takes about 10 minutes - when the whole process should have taken about 2 hours.

Anyone else experienced this? Using the most recent MeGUI and x264 builds.

No, problem here, may be ram usage is causing the system to swap,...

check something else isn't eating your CPU

I'm having the same issue, but I'm pretty sure it's ram related. I discovered one of my ram chips went bad and had to remove it. So now I'm running on 512mb of ram. I assume it's producing lots of disk swapping...

Oh, and as check said.... Hit Ctrl-Alt-Del to bring up the task manager. Click on the Processes tab, then click on the CPU column to sort it by CPU usage. Then check to see what's eating up your CPU cycles (well, other than x264.exe). Also check the Mem Usage column to see what's eating up your memory if that's applicable. Some times you'll see programs that have crashed, but remain in memory and you'll have to End Process them.
