Fileconvert current version 1.6

FileConvert is a Graphical User Interface (GUI) for Mencoder Windows version. The Mencoder is a Video-transcoding-tool, that is part of the MPlayer-suite.


You can use FileConvert for example to:

* Convert your videos to DivX or Xvid or X264
* Convert from Container Matroska to AVI, sample for your Standalone DVD Player
* RIP your unprotected DVD to XVID
* Split and join AVI
* Mux Audio/Video (AVI/MPEG1/2)
* Repair AVI with DVR
* Demux Audio/Video with projectx
* Convert TO VCD (KVCD)
* xVCD-Image to AVI
* Demux MPEG2 with Pvastrumento commandline version
* Mux MPEG2 with mpex.exe

Sources can be:

* DV-files
* QuickTime
* Avis (almost any codec)
* Wmv
* and many others


Targets can be only Avi-Files (DivX / Xvid).

Video-codecs are inlude in Mencoder

* Mpeg4 (DivX5)
* Ms-Mpeg4 (DivX 3.11)
* Mjpeg
* lossless Mjpeg
* Wmv 7/8
* and many more

just a suggestion for next build: allow choose audio tracks within mpeg2/mpeg4 stream... since mplayer is able to detect and mencoder to encode

2 pass: in vcd? The most people and site mean not required for vcd.

A bitrate calculator is include. But this calculator goes an other way. Calculate the best size for the bitrate. (XVID)
But not for VCD.

For XVID and MPEG2. I was written this 4kb bitcalc for an other author. (It's in german) and .NET.

I must see about a normal bitrate calc to include.

Make the following:

open a video
........
at last thing

two pass
now insert as bitrate the target size in KB negative sample
for a 700MB CD
Bitrate: -700000
Ignore the warning Click NO
Mencoder calc the bitrate self it's the bitrate negative
But i can insert this feature in one of the next version

A sample video
10MB mencoder make this: 13,2 MB (13.881.928 Bytes)
The source was 76MB and MPEG2
Ok very bad sample too low bitrate.

Normal must be correct.

And its not a trick its a normal mencoder feature.

instead 10MB target 25MB: Result
27,8 MB (29.219.886 Bytes)

and Video Bitrate: 901 Kbps

Forgotten. But a calc bitrate function it's include long time. See the screenshot.

In a newer version i'll add the MPEG2 bitcalc too.

I get a trojan warning in AVG when I download, unzip, et al...the FileConvert.exe file sets off AVG.

If you have next time a false postive send the file in a zip with password (i used infected) and send it to virus at grisoft dot cz
with subject false postive. Don't forget to write the pwd in the mail :)
