Hi,

I'm new to AutoGK and after reading various guides and FAqs I still have some questions that you hopefully can help me with.

I have been told and read a few places its better to have a 'Constant Bit Rate' rather than the 'Variable Bit Rate' as the VBR can cause sync errors when you are processing is this true or does it not matter?

I have read the AutoGK guide and I know that if you select 700mb , AutoGK [audio auto] does a kinda ABR for a 1cd encode, and AC3 audio for 2CD. On digital digest they have a guide that if I quote it correctly says: ''AC3 does not offer the best quality versus file size ratio, so using VBR MP3 at 128 kbps for 1 CD movies and 160 kbps for 2 CD movies is the recommended setting.'' Is this what I should be trying to achieve with my first attempts.

One more question, Would any of you ever recommend ever going above 128 vbr for 1cd?

Thanks,

sphere

Hi and welcome to the forum,

Using ac3 audio for 1cd is incorrect; see FAQ 2.3 http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=72679 :
How is first audio encoded in Auto mode?
- it's VBR 128Kbps if target size is 700Mb or less, in all others cases it's original AC3/DTS/MPA track.
VBR 128 is for MP3-ABR +-128
AC3 will always be CBR and will not be re-encoded by AGK

Yes if your final avi is undersized; else it is a matter of taste more video or more audio (quality mean).
