DVD-RW and DVD+RW

Is there a differnce between these 2 standards.

I just bought a Philips DVD+RW and my Pioneer A03 will not accept the disk.

you should've checked the standards before buying anything.

Here's a site about DVD+RW: http://www.dvdplusrw.org/ that also has format comparisons online.

DVD-RW is a completely different format.. it's a rewriteable signed off by the DVD forum (which doesn't mean a lot). In fact, from a technical standpoint DVD+RW is better because it pretty much has the same reflection properties as a DVD-9 so more players should be able to read it.
