Problems with reencoding VIDEO_TS.VOB?

I've got a movie where the main title menu (moving menu) is placed in the VMG section. This means that I've got a 350 mb VIDEO_TS.VOB file that DVD-RB isn't going to touch (at least not in the current version)

Now I've understood that I could use NuMen4u and Scenarist but I don't have that kind of cash.... And it feels a bit over the top to reauthour the VMGM just to lower bitrate.

Is there a way to "convert" the VMGM to a VTSM using pgcedit? (I know how to update the "programming" of the DVD.)

If thats possible, then I could use DVDRB & CCE for all the encoding just as I want to!

If not, how can I proceed?
I DON'T want tu use DVD shrink, or any other oneclicker to compress the VMGM.

If I try to manually demux and reencode, what will I have to update then? I havn't fully understood what and when the "lba"-access tables are used on the DVD.

You can import your VMGM as a VTSM with PgcEdit.

I suggest using this method:
Create a new dummy VTS with Import VTST Titles. (Import any VTS, preferably with only one single PGC. Do not copy or move the VOB files. You don't need them.)
Right-click on the PGC you have just imported, and use Blank-Out All PGCs in Domain (to create a little VOB for the dummy VTS.)
In the same right-click menu, select Import Menu, and import your VIDEO_TS.IFO. Copy or move the VOB.
Change the "TitleM" type of your new menu to "RootM" with Set Menu Type (as a Title menu in a VTSM domain is illegal.)
Right-click on the original VMGM and Remove Menu.
Now, your DVD cannot work, but hopefully it will be accepted by DVD-RB: reencode.
In the reencoded DVD, right-click on the FP-PGC and Import Menu. Use the last VTS of your reencoded DVD.
Change the "RootM" of the imported VMGM back to "TitleM".
Use DVD -> Delete last VTS of DVD to remove the dummy VTS.
Verify the navigation (with Info -> Find Jumps to Nowhere) just to be sure everything went correctly.
That's all.
