click noise in hard disk WD

Hi Guys

My hard disk was fell down very light from the table . it was ready to use it as external hard .but the falling was very short hight like 30cm and light on the carpete.then when i did try it .it came click noise and the computer showed error. then i did open the cover of the hard and i did open the other hard the same type to see is somthing lose and compare maybe silly then other hard also got the same click noise , in fact i lost both of them .
IS THERE ANYWAY TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM OR JUST I LOST BOTH HARDS?

Well, you probably lost both of them when you opened the case. Hard drives are not to be opened in any circumstances outside a clean room. Dust and other tiny particles will fall on the internal hardware and interfere with operation.

Ouch. I hate to say it, but they're probably ruined unless it's worth it to you to take it to a data recovery service. Normally hard drives aren't user serviceable without a clean room and specialized tools - just prying the case open is liable to misalign or scratch things. The read heads are very sensitive to jolts, and the clicking is caused by that misalignment, or the electronics feeding it bad movement information.

The usual solution is to try freezing and giving the drive another alignment. If that doesn't work, if you're very technically competent and have all the right tools, you can fix a drive yourself (http://www.hackaday.com/2005/11/17/hard-drive-resurrection/) - but you might want to practice on another one first. Since the drive only needs to last long enough to get data off, you don't need a perfectly dust-free room.

Are they external or internal hdds?

I have had "click" noises with my external 2,5" hdd.
Then I figured out, I have to use 2 usb ports with the included (y-)usb cable to maintain the elect. current.
The click noises stopped.

Probably a total different story...

Well, small form factor drives usually do click, especially when they are turned off and you invert them. I know my iPod and laptop both do :)
