I want to add something more to the guide: it is possible to do a Downsampling. Of, 24/48000, 24/96000... to 16/44100 and, to apply the Dithering UV22HR, like 3 effect, to the 4 tracks of audio stereo.

Good point, Frank. Just remember folks, the target sample rate you choose should match your intended playback format. For surround CDs, it should be 16-bit/44.1kHz. For DVD's, the sample rate needs to be 48kHz or 96 kHz. If you happen to be doing DVD-Audio it can be any of these plus 88.2kHz (higher sampling rates on DVD-Audio are supported by 2-channel stereo but are out of spec for surround).

Hello
I have realized, that, the SurroundPann of Steinberg Nuendo, accepts WaveLab v5. I have thought and proven, that, for audio of "Movies" 5.1/6.1, it is very well.

01. The first track audio stereo:

- First effect, I add, FL FR V.I Suite (Preset - At the Movies)
- Second effect, I add, SurroundPan (Steinberg Nuendo)

http://img116.imageshack.us/img116/5747/imagen01cl0.jpg

- Third effect, now I add, PickMaster.

http://img78.imageshack.us/img78/9024/imagen00rn8.jpg

02. Second stereo audio track:

- First effect, I add, CLFE V.I Suite (Preset - AT the Movies)
- Second effect, I add, SurroundPan (Steinberg Nuendo)

http://img78.imageshack.us/img78/6633/imagen02ms8.jpg

- Third effect, now I add, PickMaster.

03. Third stereo audio track:

- First effect, I add, SL SR. V.I Suite (Preset - AT the Movies)
- Second effect, I add, SurroundPan (Steinberg Nuendo)

http://img112.imageshack.us/img112/2410/imagen03bg7.jpg

- Third effect, now I add, PickMaster.

04. Fourth stereo audio track:

- First effect, I add, SL SR. V.I Suite (Preset - AT the Movies)
- Second effect, I add, SurroundPan (Steinberg Nuendo)

http://img131.imageshack.us/img131/3449/imagen04vo7.jpg

- Third effect, now I add, PickMaster.

Note: If the Encoder (Dolby Surround EX 6.1) of Sony Vegas 7d is used, the SurroundPanner of Nuendo, I do not advise, because it can distort. Sony Vegas 7d already takes SurroundPanner and is sufficient.

Greetings
Frank DTS Ultra ;) :D

Hi there,

I have a slight problem with sound just wondering if you could help. I have an emu 1616 sound card. I am following your instructions: Menu / Options / Preferences / Audio Card, to select ASIO4ALL, Click OK but i am not getting any sound when i have imported the wav file am I doing somthing wrong?

thanks

I'd recommend using E-MU's native ASIO driver instead of ASIO4ALL. Their driver will be real ASIO instead of an emulation and much better. I have an E-MU 1212M, which is a 2-channel version of the 1616 and the ASIO driver works extremely well. I still use my Audigy 2 ZS for surround work but I plan to upgrade to a 1616 in a few months. These E-MU cards are extraordinary in terms of stability and sound quality!

If I am not using 6.1 but rather 5.1 do I only clone 3 sets of files instead of 4?..I like the fact that the V.I. suite is compatable with this as well....Is there a normalization setting here like in audition?

ursamtl

Yes, only three sets are required. Wavelab has a normalization function but I believe it's standard peak normalization instead of the Group Waveform Normalize function in Cool Edit and Audition. Perhaps someone more familiar with Wavelab could comment. I've used it in the past but now I use Cool Edit (which became Audition).

Thanks...i used Wavelab last night and the normalization function in audition and got very good results...I tried the settings you suggested....

Great! I'm glad you got some good results. Keep practicing and you'll be an expert in no time! Continue to share your results with us as doing so helps other newcomers.

Steve.

WaveLab works very well.
I, already I do not work with Wavelab, now, I am working with Cubase 4, have problems with some plug-ins, but I can do the conversion of stereo to Surround 5.1, otherwise My card of sound is a Creative X-FI, and my another card, to do recordings of analogical to digital, is the Interface 410 of M-Audio, this, really it works very well, a good enough sound.

V.I/VI.I, has a quality (preserving the Range dynamic) EXCELLENT.
Few plug-ins work so well, and it is Free:)

I am trying to study, a new method 5.1 with Cubase 4 (with delays), but, the results are not good. It is very complicated for my, but, I will try to improve.

.
Could you discribe this algorithm in text and pictures ?
For example...
C(central) = L(left) + R(right)
and so on.
.
Thanks.
