Do I need to join files?

If I put a film on a disc that is split into two parts will my standalone player play the files one after the other or is it best to join them?What is the best/easiest joiner to use if I have to?

In order to be able to answer your questions, it's important to know - In what format did you create these two parts (XviD or something else)?

Also, what brand and model of player do you have?

The files are xvid.
I have not received the player yet but its on the way,it is a H&B DX-3255
