View Full Version : Compressing own source footage to PAL dimensions

Hey all, I'm doing a personal demo reel full of 3d work. I've cut my reel in Premiere and outputted as PAL-D1 720x576 25fps uncompressed.

All is good but when I try and compress it to Xvid with AutoGK I end up with a great quality video but the output size is 720x544! Which means everything is stretched!

Does anyone know how to fix this? I've done a search but the advanced options dialogue doesn't seem to save my preferences when I force it to go to the 4:3 aspect ratio and all the various other standard options have really no effect.

AutoGK reads the source video properly:
"Video info: Sony DV - 720x576 - 25fps - 4mn 4s 160ms"

Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the forum,

Use hidden option (Ctrl/F9) .aspect
check override inputAR and try original or 4:3

Make a Preview to verify if aspect ratio is Ok if not, experiment...

Thanks for the reply,

Basically when I do Ctrl+F9 and I press Okay, it never saves the settings for some reason. Also, the make preview outputs as 720 x 544, which isn't right.

Although I had another idea, since AutoGK is meant for the compression of DVD's maybe it's actually interlacing my original source (which of course doesn't need to be interlaced) and that's why I'm loosing the correct resolution. This is the only answer I can come up with.

I think I'll experiment some more.

Do not, I repeat, do not check the .detect43, detect and force4:3
It will override other settings.

You can create manually a file named ".aspect" in your working directory which, for original, will contain
"0:1"
for 4:3 ,will contain
"4:3"
