View Full Version : AutoGK hangs on Running second pass.

Not every time, but I would say the majority of the time AutoGK does nothing after the second pass is finished (it still says "Running second pass"). The final AVI file appears to be fine, but I need to abort the job and start again in order to continue in the job queue.
I tried searching the forums, but was unable to come across any answers. Thanks for any help.

That problem (or one like it) used to occur due to some issue with Norton/Symantec Antivirus and VirtualDubMod. A different version of VDMod that did not antagonize the AntiVirus program could be substituted and everything was OK. But I thought that issue was over with newer versions of AutoGK. If you think that might be the problem for you, look in the forums for the link to the Norton-friendly VirtualDubMod executable.

It is similar, but I am not getting any errors reported. After the second pass, AutoGK simply does nothing. However, I am running symantec corporate edition.
Reading through posts I found, all the links to the modified VirtualDubMod were dead. One post recommended disabling autoprotect on the output folder for autogk, so maybe I will give that a try.
Thanks for the help, Happygolucky. I'll let you know what I find.

I was running Symantec Corporate AV, also. I had the same issue, no errors, just the VirtualDubMod process would freeze at the second pass. The modified executable solved it.
After a horrendous experience with the Symantec AV allowing a known virus/trojan to infect my computer resulting in me having to reformat and load everything from scratch, I no longer trust Symantec to protect my systems. The virus/trojan was actually using the Symantec email proxy to send THOUSANDS of spam/virus emails from my computer. I downloaded/installed the free AVG antivirus and it detected the offender during the install.
I now run virus/trojan and Symantec free. And no problems with AutoGK.

RobbieG,
a late reply but I think http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=65889&package_id=63653&release_id=352709 is the one you've been looking for.
This works with f-secure, which used to cause same problems as reported with symantec.
