View Full Version : After demuxing DVB, AC3 is only recognized as 2ch

Hi,

I'm having great problems during the following chain:
Recording DVB (Topfield)->demuxing (TMPEG, ...)->encoding to xvid and joining with AC3 and/or mp3 (VirtualDubMod)
As my problem does not directly relate to one of the other topics, I did put it here. If it would be better in another category, please move :)
OK, now I'll get to the point: When I demux the DVB, the AC3 is only recognized as 2ch although it is 5.1. When I use this AC3 as stream for the encoded xvid, there is a wrong sound in the resulting AVI as VDubMod does not recognize the AC3 as 5.1 and therefore uses a wrong bitrate.
When I recompress the AC3->AC3 with BeLight, the resulting AC3 works well. There seems to be a problem with the headers in the AC3(?)
How can I get rid of that problem?

Thanks a lot,
MatMike

Try de-muxing using DGIndex...

Thanks for your reply. But even with DGIndex, I get a wrong bitrate when I add the AC3 to the stream list of VDubMod. It gets displayed as "AC3 6ch 48000Hz 288.6kbps (bitstream v6)". But when I load it into Gspot or look at the info of DGIndex, it is 448kbps.

Are you able to provide a short sample of a captured stream?

Indeed, demux with ProjectX. Are you in the UK, as in DVB-T/Freeview? Apart from BBC HD and ITV HD I think that all the channels are AC3 2.0?
