View Full Version : DivX to Play on Philips DVP-5140 Standalone Player

Guys,

Can anyone help me out here, the Philips DVP-5140 is meant to play DivX Ultra. Its meant to play QPel and GMC.
From what I read on the net it will only play DivX content with GMC (1 Warp Point).

From what I have read all over the net, DivX is meant to only use 1 warp point, however, whenever I enable GMC, and then look at the final output with MPEG4Modifier, it shows GMC (2 Warp Points)

Am I doing something wrong, how do I get a DivX Movies, using GMC and one 1 Warp Point.

Thanks a million

Your player will play a movie with max 2 warp. Just try.

enjoy,

I have tried this, is it doesn't work.

I have tried the following

Qpel Only = Worked
Qpel & GMC = Didn't Work
GMC Only = Didn't Work

Got an error on screen, something like "Cannot Play GMC". Video plays a couple of frames and stop, jumps, plays a couple of frames and so on.

Got an error on screen, something like "Cannot Play GMC". Video plays a couple of frames and stop, jumps, plays a couple of frames and so on.That's most odd....

I have some GMC samples generated by DivX's encoder and they play okay on all my compatible devices...

And yes, according to MPEG4 Modifier, GMC streams generated by DivX's encoder "do" contain 2-warp-points (and not 1).

Does anyone have a small sample divx with GMC enabled, that plays on a DVP-5140 and I'll try it out.

My player in the 5140/05 model, I think it is only released in Europe, I think the USA have /17 /35, something like that.

Okay....

Here a link to a very low bit-rate DivX GMC sample (http://82.10.220.174/Uploaded_Files/Doom9_Forum_files/DivX_GMC_without_mattes.zip)....

SeeMoreDigital,

Thanks a million

When I look at your clip, MPEG4Modifier shows that you use "GMC:Yes (2 warp points)", this is the same as my clip however, at the bottom of the information display in MPEG4Modifier there is a difference

Your:
Warp points used:
1: 100.00%

Mine
Warp points used:
1: 32.00%
2: 67.00%

Something like that, (Don't have the clip here), but mine definately shows 2 warp points.

How can I get it to only use 1 wrap point, I use DivX 6.4 with GordianKnot.

Thanks again

How can I get it to only use 1 wrap point, I use DivX 6.4 with GordianKnot.I don't think that will be possible.... Seeing as though DivX appears to generate GMC encodes with 2-warp-points and not 1-warp-point.

That said, if you search around the forum you should find various discussions about whether DivX's GMC implementation actually aids compression and/or visual enhancement at all... Personally speaking, I can't see that it provides anything positive. So I don't encode with it.... But neither do I encode with DivX anymore....

I didn't want to open a new thread about this, so hopefully this works.

for anyone who owns this unit, do you experience ridiculously fast seeking upon the very first seek during playback of a divx/xvid?
