View Full Version : Svcd encoding trouble

Hi, I am making svcds with cce because it is so fast.
I am having a problem though.
I first rip with smart ripper, then use dvd2avi to make a d2v project using forced film. I then open it in TmpgEnc, and define all my settings using the svcd ntsc forced film template. I save this project file. I open it in vfapi, and produce an avi file which I then load into cce. It is playing with a double chop every 1 second. Thing is, Nero says the stream is 23.976 fps when it burns it and complains that it should be 29.97 fps, I tell it to turn off std compliance and burn. If I encode in tmpgenc, even though the template says it 23.976 fps (same settings I used to create the project file I loaded into vfapi), nero accepts it, and it plays right! What does cce do differently, and why does nero not complain about the tmpgenc stream? I am using all latest versions of all software. Also, I use tmpgenc to multiplex the streams from cce, I use the mpeg2 svcd VBR setting.

Any ideas?

Hi,

From the sounds of things you are forgetting to run Pulldown (a program available on Doom9's download page) on the mpv file that CCE produces.

Look at step 9b in the CCE guide (http://www.doom9.org/mpg/cce.htm).

TMPEG has a small check box under "configure" -> "video tab" called 3:2 pulldown on playback. This is pretty much the same thing and I don't think it get passed to CCE.

Try all of Step 9 again on the finished MPG from CCE you have, it should probably straighten things out for you.

Goodluck

and BTW (whispering... don't cross post questions... people hate that ;))

Thank you for your time.
But, how come the mpeg from tmpg is deemed ok by nero, and plays good. Even without having pulldown checked? What does cce do differently?

Thanks!

hey np..

there is a setting in CCE under the video button that sets upper field first. That is probably doing it as far a choppy goes. It may be putting your frames out of order.

As far as why nero liked one and not the other, I don't know, sorry.
