Best S-VHSC camcorder I can get?

my s-vhsc camcorder is loosing quality and I need a good replace in order to continue transferring all my vhs-c et tapes the best I can.

Why not get a VHS-C adapter so you can play the tapes in a normal VHS (or S-VHS) deck?

The image quality differs... the VCR can't play them well...

I must disagree here with you.. My subjective experience is that Adapter coupled with a VCR with a Time Base Corrector yields far better results than playing back with any camera I've seen. I dont know if there are cameras with TBC and whether it would make any difference (compared to VCR with TBC).

There should not be any appreciable difference playing S-VHSC tapes in an S-VHS deck using an adaptor....

I told him the same thing over at another forum, use a vhs-c adaptor and I also provided links to svhs machines.

The problem with trying to find a camcorder is that most likely they are going to be used units, which may or may not have more hours use on them than the one this member has.

The camcorder probably has some dried up capacitors in the video circuits and worn out video heads and tape guides. If this was my project, I would definately find a new svhs machine (which there are new ones out there) and use the adaptor.

BTW, hello everyone here at Doom9! I am a Sony engineer that participates in the design of many Sony products. I love working with DVD's and making them as a hobby. Much of the work I do at Sony focuses on prototyping and testing of new designs.

I earned my degree in electronic and electrical engineering at NMSU and served in the US Air Force stationed at White Sands NM Holloman AFB. My assignment there was working with the early systems of the SDI program. (thats about all I can say in that regard!)

I hope to provide usefull information here as I do at the Digital Video Forums, particularly with Sony items.

I tried loading a VHC-C adapter one time using my SLV-r1000 and when there was fast movement... the recorded DV on my PC looked blocky where the footage coming from the camcorder with TBC same scene was smooth... What's so special about your recommended VCRs? I need a reason as I already spent too much on VCRs almost 600$.
Is it because of the way vhc-c et tapes play?
What if my tapes cause timebase problems? what would I do then? I couldn't find one of your VCR recommendations with TBC
And can you tell me what's so special about the SR-S365U for the price. It has no TBC either. it has Y/C outputs but would it be better to use s-video anyway? :scared:
