First, a lttle background. Some months ago I found that my dual layer back-ups were hanging a lot, at certain points in the movie. At first i thought it was suspect media, so I went back to Verbatims; same thing. This was happening with mostly non-encrypted movies, using DVD Decrypter to create ISO file and burning with same. Because I could rule out the media, my best guess is it was a matter of minimal hard-drive space causing the ISO to be fragmented. But before I figured that out, I switched my technique to the PgcEdit, with PSL2 plug-in that was popular a few months back for ARRCOS encrypted discs. I don't even remember why I chose this to try, but it seemed to work great, and still does. So PgcEdit decrypts in conjunction with DVD Decrypter in file mode, then I use DVD Shrink 3.2 to create my ISO file and burn with Decrypter. Again, I am talking about Dual Layer 8.5's as my media. Now i see that this isn't supposed to work, using DVD Shrink, that it doesn't know a thing about the layer break. Yet, I haven't noticed the first problem with these back-ups. Am I just lucky, or does PgcEdit place the layer break in a good place??

PGCEdit puts layer break in correct position, from v6.0. Now you can use Imgburn as well, more? easy to use.

Don't ever use DVD Shrink to make a dual layer disk. It is not designed for this purpose and the LB will be wrong. As Susana says, use ImgBurn (www.imgburn.com) and your LB problems will vanish.

Yet, I haven't noticed the first problem with these back-ups.I guess if it works for you, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" may be appropriate ;>}
