Do divx players have memory for avi files like they do when you stop and turn the player off for a normal dvd player? My philips DVP642 doesn't seem to, was thinking about upgrading to the DVP5104 just because of the better reviews and wanted to know if that will do it before i buy

It would be a function of the firmware, so there is no generalised answer. My own Xoro and Tevions do not offer it. You have to press Display and note the time. next time do Search and put in the time.

I have not seen or heard of any divx dvd player that can resume. In fact the fast forward and backward are normally pretty badly implemented as well. Maybe the lastest mainstream models are better, but say, my yamada has a pretty crummy interface. They need (all divx dvd player mfrs) to hire away the ipod designer(s) to get some decent user interfaces

Why do some avi's support fast forward, backward and time search, but some not?

Hi!Why do some avi's support fast forward, backward and time search, but some not?Your question is far too general for anyone to provide you with a meaningful response.
What software, procedures, and settings did you use for each of the .AVIs in question?
You really should have started a new thread, since your question has little to do with the initial post to this thread...

Sorry!
Some avi's converted by winavi cannot be fast backward and time search in my toshba divx dvd player, but some can. Is there any tricks and anyway to change the setting of winavi?

You should probably ask them, but doubtful. The legions of $30 single-purpose clones typically only work just barely enough to get by, especially compared to much better free software.

My TVIX 5000 allows me to resume the last 8-10 avi files. It has a auto bookmarking feature when you press stop. On next turn on you are able to resume from a bookmark list even off the network.
