Missing highlights on menu buttons

Total noob, so please be patient.

Was reworking a DVD of recorded TV shows. DVD created by a DVD recorder. Copied the DVD to hard drive. Using DVD Remake Pro removed commercials & added the odd chapter. No issues.

Modified menu by replacing background with another bmp. Worked fine. Plays back fine. Menu responds to remove key movement moving through menu from episode 1 through 5 without issue.

Just don't have the highlights indicating which button is active. Checked original DVD in both DRMP & PgcEdit comparing any and all commands, pre/post, subpic, just about any area I could find to see what I missed/lost. Both original & modified DVDs appear to be identical.

Can anyone give me a suggestion or point me to a tutorial somewhere that would show how I can reinstate the button highlights in a menu. If PgcEdit is not the best tool for this, suggesting what other tools might be used is also appreciated.

Since you've change the background so probably you have also change the colour and contrast. Open the dvd in PgcEdit and open the menu. Press Edit then Edit colour schemes and compare it with your original. You can also export your old colour scheme from the original and import into you new dvd. If that doesn't work then adjust each setting separately to see what suits you.

What program did you use to replace the menu background? DRM Pro?
Maybe you should try to do that with VobBlanker. It works fine.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm even more confused today.

When I play the original or the modified versions, they have highlights in PowerDVD. But when I play them on my stand alone JVC DVD player, the original has highlights but the modified doesn't <Scratching head>

Back to the drawing board, I think.

Lastest version of DRM is 3.5.3. Which are you using? Older version had bugs related to menu highlights.

Cracked version most likely has menu problems. If you are using a registered version, maybe you can head over to official DvdReMake forum and post there to see if there is really a bug.

Not sure it's a DRMP bug. I followed a tut on replacing the menu background using DRMP. Figured I screwed up somehow. Was looking for a way to add highlights back in without having to redo everything. Since I also have PgcEdit, thought it might be able to do what I wanted to do.

But now it seems to be a standalone set issue as I have the highlights on the modified file in PowerDVD. <shrug>

That's probably wrong! I know that several minor problems have no consequences on some players (notably on most software players) but can lead to button highlights disappearing on some standalone players. There is really something wrong in your files.

You should check:

1. With PgcEdit
- If a subpic stream is defined in Domain Streams Attributes.
- If the stream(s) is/are declared in the PGC. (One stream for a 4:3 menu, 2 or 3 for a 16:9 menu)
- If the right color scheme is used, and in the color scheme, if the transparency values are correct. (Use the Menu Editor.)

2. With DVDSubEdit
- If the subpic for the cell has not a STOP command. (You can see it in the "current subpic info" box.) If the stop command exists, it must be issued after a duration approximately equal to the cell duration. For a still image w/o audio, the STOP command should not exist.
- If the subpic highlights are present and visible (You will have to change the transparency value to see them.)
