Ok, heres my story. I'm running windows XP and have been decrypting and burning for quite some time with no problems. Now, I've been running into some verrry slow times. Where as I have went from a 20 minute decrypt and burn it now takes 1 hour and 10 minutes or so just to decrypt and another 45 minutes to an hour to burn. What I want to know is, this all started after I upgraded my windows xp service pack to the sevice pack 2. Is there any thing in this pack that could have caused all of my problems with my decrypt time and burn time? Any help will be greatly appreciated. THanks

Check that your DVD drive is running in DMA mode not PIO mode. Open Device Manager, right click the IDE controller that your DVD drive is on and choose Properties. On the advanced tab, make sure it's set to DMA if available.
If you can't set it to DMA then uninstall the IDE controller and then restart Windows. It'll get installed again and with DMA mode enabled.

So if I just delete it, it will reset itself when I restart the computer?

Ok, I tried that and everything reset. I have a movie decrypting right now and my decrypt time went from 1hr 10min. to about 38 min. but that still seems a little slow compared to what I used to get them at. (20 min. decrypt AND burn) Is this about the norm speed now? Anyone....

Defrag your drive.

Dear Darth_Thomas,
Funny but I have heard the same story just some days before.
Please make sure that your machine is free of virusses and other malware which is running resident in the background. Malware like Virtumonde etc. really brings down your machine speed including the DVD drive.
The same happened to the machine of a good friend. After using AdWare and Spybot S&D the machine run again at the old speed.
