View Full Version : Having problems re-encoding DVD with x264/meGUI

I am trying to make media backups of some of my Anime that I have on DVD. I see that the best quality anime for download is H.264, so I decided to encode my anime with x264.

I looked over a guide and it says that the first step for mpeg2 input is the d2v creator. After I create the d2v, when I try to make the avisynth script, it fails immediately. The only way I can make the script is to rip the DVD into 1 large VOB file and import that to the avisynth script creator.

Next, it says to analyze the video. This always fails as well. I checked the "source is anime" and it goes through the anlysis but it does not finish.

After this, I make some settings and encode the video, but it is partially interlaced after encoding. The interlacing makes the video look really bad, but the actual quality is good. What am I doing that is encoding the video interlaced? Is it because of some of the steps that are not completing?

Also, what extra software/plugins does x264 need? I only installed avisynth and dg index.

Also, if there are any recommended guides for DVD to mp4 on this site, could someone please provide links?

Thank you

I'm moving this to a MeGUI forum.
