hi, i recently used xing and sbc method in guides to make a couplle of films, i got excellent quality, but when i went to cut the avi in 2, i got problems. nandub refuses to cut the audio, (once again using guide ) no matter what i tried, i ended up with 2 files with no sound, i tried virtual dub, avi chop, aviedit. in avichop i got message "erro,no video data". i am stuck as i spent time on these films and no way on putting them on cd, other than using winrar to split theminto samll files, but i dont want to dso that. i am using divx codec 4.12, i never encountered this problem when using 3.11, plz sort me out
cheers dudes.

Hi-First off, you shouldn't be using Xing for the audio, as it produces worse quality than other methods (azid-lame). But I used to use it before I knew better, and never had any problems splitting the resulting .avi.
Assuming the original unsplit .avi played fine with the sound included, then have you gone to Doom9's Guide page, found the Virtual Dub guide, and followed his instructions about splitting an .avi? You must be doing something not quite right, so perhaps the section on splitting .avis can set you straight. The important things are Video and Audio on Direct Stream Copy, and Audio on Avi Audio, and then fool around with the arrows on the bottom to split.Good Luck.

thanks man, but yea i have checked out doom9 guides first thing i did,
but with no luck, each time i split i lose sound. the orignal sound is in fact perfect i have had no problems at all, i have now done about 3 movies, all of them are fine until u split. no idea what to do, just in case i will re-check the guides but i am sure i have done everything right. let me know of any other suggestions

Hi again-Yeah-there is another suggestion. There have been reports of asynch after splitting .avis with VBR sound (although I've never had the problem). On Doom9's News page is a new VDub which is supposed to correct the problem. So, either go there or to the Downloads page and get it and try again. Hope it works for you.
