Hello,

I was following the DVDRipping guide and when I was making the "compressibility check" @ http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/gknot-divx5.htm , virtualdubmod opened an error window stating: Video Compression Error: An unknown error occured (may be corrupt data). (error code -100)

Does anyone would suggest a possible reason for that error ??

EDIT: I think it is related to the Divx codec itself because virtualdubmod works great with Xvid.

EDIT 2: Thanks guys, I just uninstalled the DIVx Codec and reinstalled it. I didn't fully test test the codec but the compressibility check was ok.

I ran into that error message yesterday when attempting a multi-pass encode.

After some investigation, I discovered that DivX was trying to write its log file to a folder that didn't exist. When I changed the temporary files folder, all was well again.

Yep, same here.. Thanks to your post, I looked in the DivX advanced settings and found the incorrect setting on my system as well...
