How to convert H264 .TS to an MP4 format?

Hi there, I'm trying to find a way to losslessly convert H264 .TS streams with AC3 audio to a Playstation 3 compatible MP4 video format.

I wasn't able to remux them with an mp4 muxer, is that because the .AC3 needs to be re-encoded to AAC first?

Yes it is. Renaming doesn't actually change anything in the actual file, remuxing does. For de/remuxing there are lots of tools like TSConverter, avc2avi, avi2mp4 etc.

That's coz one of your installed splitters (probably haali's matroska splitter) supports both TS and MP4.

Would it be better to use tools like TSConverter to convert the files if I want a file in mp4 format? In a related note, I also have several .MKV files that I've renamed to .MP4, should I use some software tool to convert those as well?

Iv been trying to do this also.

I have a load of HD mkv files and am trying to extract
the audio and video then encode the audio to aac
so i can re-mux into a .mp4 for the PS3.

Can anyone tell me if that is the best way or is there another?
And anyone that knows there stuff about the PS3 and has
done this before please help me out iv tried three times already
and the PS3 keeps telling its corrupted data.

i do have the same issue. i tried allmost every tool but i keep ending up with error messages, disfunctions etc.
is there not a all in one tool that converts a .ts file to a ps3 compatible mp4 file without (major) quality loss?
or at least an easy to use guide.
by the way: do I need any specific hardware to demux/remux ts/mp4 files? does it work with a regulat grafic card? my stem is:

intel pentium m 1,86 ghz
1 GB Ram
256 Geforce Go 6600

is that sufficient for reencoding? for playback, I know that for 1080i/p it is not sufficient but encoding should be possible or not?

i have done some encodes with megui into mp4
and they have worked on the PS3 but there playing
all jerky (the video keeps jumping) so its still back to
the drawing board for me.

i demuxed a BBC HD TS file with MPlayer and muxed it into MP4 with Yamb 2.0 Preview plus the latest MP4box. TSConverter didn't work.
