Well, before all I would like to say a big big thank you to Len0x for his beautiful software, and everyone support it.
Second, I have just upgraded to the latest stable version.
Third, please excuse me if this is something already dealt with; I'm not so good with english so I could haven't been able to find the information.

And now, here is my question:

today I'm trying to resizing a divx; here's the log (it's not finished so don't worry for it):

So people, why is the audio so much sized? I expected that ac3 audio would be converted in mp3 to be less, instead I see a not so fantastic resolution for video, and too much for audio. What should I do so? Maybe the auto settings for audio are not so precise?

Thank you :)

Hi, welcome to the forum and happy new year.

Thanks for the log it is useful to provide answers.

1/ Audio is big cause it is AC3 448Kbp/s
2/ Above 700Mo (1cd) auto for audio keeps the original, below it converts to MP3 see FAQ 2.3 here: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=72679 or FAQ 5.12 for AVI Input
3/ You have to specify other settings for audio (for the same overall size); either
- a 2channels AC3 input that will be 192 or 224 kbp/s if existant or
- a MP3 (VBR or CBR) 2channels encoding below 192 kbp/s

Your 6 channels AC3 is 394 Mb for 448 kbp/s; a 224 kbp/s will be 197 Mb and a 128 kbp/s(MP3) will be 112Mb. If you have difficulties with the maths, you can use weaver4 reversebit calculator here: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=888886#post888886

Happy encoding

Edit1/: just missed source is avi not vob; see adding in 2/
Your AVI source size is already resized to 560*288, you will loose quality by re-encoding (and resizing) the video ...
Edit2/ What kind of gear (processor) do you have to get more than 100fps, a core2duo?

I feel a bit ashamed for not having found into the faqs the information I needed, I promise I will read them carefully next time :)

Thanks for the detailed information; I have always encoded for fitting in a cd (700 MB) so I lost this piece of substance, as it always converted the audio in mp3, and since in this case I had just to re-encode for filling a dvd media with 6 movies I decided to use a 780 MB size...

About my processor, I don't know the reason of that... My notebook has got a humble Sempron 2800+, maybe would a "re-run" be faster?

What about the divx reencoding? Does it lose only the bitrate value, or much more considering it was already compressed? Honestly, sorry for being unforgivably and totally newbie...

780 * 6 = 4680Mb; won't fit in a DVD (at least -R that is 4480), this is why Len0x has made a special 1/6 DVD at 746Mb

I will not state for divx (I don't use it) but for xvid:
-Resizing will loose details and sharpness
-Re-encoding will introduce artifacts, noise, distorsion etc...
Reencoding with resizing will cumulate both...
Just compare (with MPC at full screen) your source and your copy :scared:

You should also feel ashamed at violating the forum rules (http://forum.doom9.org/forum-rules.htm) so blatantly, since the title of your file is clearly indicative of a downloaded movie.

@CWR03: I'm a blatant ignorant, thank you for the remark. Now I'd try to edit my message knowing that it won't repair my shabby figure. ;(

@BigDid: as you know you're right! This is the second time I did this mistake! In fact, after some calculation and erroneous encoding, I finally sized the tv series "La Freccia Nera" for my father (a 6 episodes fiction from satellite) at 740MB (I stayed tight not to risk they wouldn't fit in)... Yesterday I forgot this again and made two movies at 780! Gosh... I'm happy to see that the developers have added the 1/6 dvdr, I did not noticed yet.
