Ok,first of all......thank you jdobbs...you da man.

Last month,I made the big leap into HDTV....probably like a few more here...and got a Sony A2000 60" SXRD.

It's freaking beautiful,.....bulbs prob wont be in a year or two,but every HDTV has it's issues.....which I will not got into detail here.

I use DVD-Rw's to test DVDrb(I make a special disc from my originals....and to keep kids happy). Now every now and again I find a bug that never really is one.....it's usually just me.

But the HDTV has gotten me into testing filters on whole dvds,.....so I've been doing more encoding lately.

I love watching DVDs with UNDOT......it makes alot of grainy films look newer(your milage may vary)....So I've redone

Close Encounters and Superman.........both look great as is,but...

Anyway..I also got a Philips DVP-5960 for HDMI.

Plays everything fine(not as much diff between HDMI and RGB anyway)....but....

Watching these two newer encodes,.......i started noticing a skip every now and again....but here's what was making me PULL MY HAIR OUT!!!........you could rewind.....and it would play fine.

NEVER could I get it to repeat in the same place.

I freaked out,......put the original in.....skip...

Whew.....not DVD-RB(or encoder I should say)......must be something else.....flipped it on component(RGB)....skip.

So damn.......same thing on analog....and digital out.

Just as I started to look for reciepts,......I remembered...

It has a USB connector on the front,....and my bro was raving a day or so ago that it would talk to and charge his iPod.....

YOINK!

No skip.

Thanks again Dobbsie.....

And remember guys.....let's be careful out there.....:o

Hah. =D

You should email Philips about that, they might be able to fix it with a firmware patch, or at least for future models. It's something they'd probably like to know. (And helpful for others!)

I thought about that,.....

Every once and a while.....I run into a issue that just makes me wanna scream and throw everything electronic out the door....

This was one of those time....:)

You buy a $2000 TV set and then try and cut corners with a $75 DVD player? Buy an Oppo:
