How do I reset chapters?

Hi. This might be the wrong forum, but unfortunately, I am not sure which forum this might fit. I recently took all of my Pixar DVD's and ripped all the Pixar shorts and combined them using DVDShrink. However, the chapter search on the resultant disc doesn't work. I have to go to the end of one short before the next will play for some of them. Is there a simple way to get the chapters reset so that I can use the chapter search?

Something similar happened with the LOTR Extended Editions. I figure the answer will work for them all. The question is whether there is a simple way to do this. I'm wondering if the step is in the decrypting phase.

2COOL wrote a guide (http://download.videohelp.com/r0lZ/pgcedit/third_party/2cool/previous_chapter/intro.htm) on this using PgcEdit. But this is now totally automated in the DVD Shrink Plugin for PgcEdit (download it from the PgcEdit site).

Load your re-authored project in PgcEdit and:

Plugins --> DVD Shrink --> DVD Shrink Remote Buttons

Transferred to IFO/VOB Editors.

Thanks for the help. I got to the DVD Shrink Remote Buttons, but I'm lost after that. I tried to press all the automated functions, but the resultant ISO that I got made everything in 16:9 (even those which were supposed to be in 4:3). I'm a little lost about that. When I try reauthoring in DVD Shrink, the preview mode gives back the correct ratio, but not that resultant ISO when I try to reauthor again. I think I might of messed something up when I first tried everything. Any ideas how to return to the correct display ratios for each chapter? Thanks.

Okay. That was weird. I tried to play it again and it works. Aspect ratio is preserved. I don't understand since I didn't do anything different. I'm very puzzled by this, but not complaining. I'll shut off my computer and play it again tomorrow to see if anything has changed and maybe I'll burn it to see if it plays okay on the television.

One thing I have noticed is that the chapters aren't renumbered. Actually, the chapters are numbered according to the title. Is there a way to eliminate the title numbers and number the chapters as if the dvd was one movie?

Only by remuxing. The idea behind the function is to make it appear as if the titles are all joined together so you can chapter skip between titles. It is very cool.

Wow. That was a fast response. Thanks for the input. Is there an automated way for remuxing and giving the numbered chapters? Otherwise, I'll be content with this.

No, you'll need to demux your streams and remux them together with Muxman. It won't take long, but there's no reason to do it.

As well, you'd need to re-author the nav commands on your DVD.

By the way, do you know of a simple, freeware way to create a DVD menu for my collection of Pixar shorts? I found some programs, but they don't seem to fit the bill just right.

Thanks for all the help. I decided not to make a menu at this time (too much to learn, too lazy to learn it at this time). But I did I run into another problem making this collection of shorts disc. When I burned the ISO to the disc, on the fourth short, the subtitles went on automatically and remained on for the rest of the other shorts. I can turn the subtitles off with the DVD remote, but I was wondering if there was a way to ensure that all the subtitles remain off unless wanted.
